I am Tutaka Yagi, newly istalled as the Grand Master.
My journey toward Freemasonry began with a spiritual question that had long occupied my heart: "What is the great force that governs this universe?" Raised with influences from Buddhism, Shinto, and later Christianity, I continually sought understanding. While each tradition offered insights, I felt that Freemasonry might offer a broader perspective—one that could help resolve the unanswered questions I carried within.
After being initiated, I delved into the moral teachings and spiritual principles of Freemasonry, often drawing wisdom from the Holy Scriptures and philosophy. Guided by the fundamental tenets of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, I experienced a personal transformation in thought and spirit. I also discovered the profound joy of gathering and working with trusted Brethren—an experience beautifully echoed in Psalm 133.
Looking ahead, I believe it is time to more actively share the true spirit of Freemasonry in Japan. Unfortunately, public media and publications often present misconceptions or sensationalized depictions of our Fraternity. It is our responsibility to correct these misunderstandings and to bring accurate knowledge to those who seek it.
This year, we aim to strengthen our public outreach, ensuring that good men who resonate with our values can freely and willingly approach our doors. At the same time, we will enhance our internal educational efforts to further cultivate the Masonic foundation in Japan.
Though I am but one man, I place my trust in the Great Architect of the Universe and in the strength of our Brethren. With your support, I am committed to working together for the continued growth and dignity of the Grand Lodge of Japan.
